Maternity Services
Would you like to help make a difference to your local maternity services?
NHS Wakefield District is looking for residents who have used their maternity services in the last four years and who would be interested in influencing local services to ensure they meet the needs of patients.
Are you a parent or parent to be? Have you used maternity services in the last four years, and live within the area of Wakefield District Council?
We really want to make sure that our maternity services are the best they can be and meet the needs of local women and their families. Involving patients and the public and listening to their views and experiences is one way we can achieve this and our Maternity Services Liaison Committee (MSLC) helps us to do just that. We are looking to engage with new representatives who can have an active or virtual role, this could be by attending meetings, by taking part in a questionnaire or by following us on twitter.
Mum of two, Becky Robinson, 29, has a great passion for maternity issues and already sits on the committee, she said: "I volunteered because I wanted to bring the patients' perspective to the committee - the non clinical opinion if you like. I can help to make sure issues that are relevant to every woman using maternity services are brought to the attention of those making the decisions. In this way I hope I can make a positive difference to people's experiences and the care they receive."
